RIBBON TRIMMED TIERS

Instructions


Step 1: In advance (Note: this project requires 4 lb. white fondant)

Ice 6" and 8" cakes, roll in fondant and stack using jumbo straws for support (see BASICS section for help). Divide all the remaining white fondant into 6 portions. 
Using pastes, tint portions as follows:
Ivory: Yellow + touch Brown
Blue: Blue
Bright Green: Green+ Yellow+ touch of Brown
Peach: Pink + Yellow
Pink: Pink + touch of Blue
Olive Green: Green + Yellow+ Brown
Next, melt white coating on low in the microwave until partially melted. ( Do not overheat) Stir until completely melted. Fill bride and groom mold, gently tap to remove air bubbles and set aside. Once dry, remove halves and adhere with additional bit of melted coating, filling in gaps if necessary.

Step 2: Decorate

Decorate 6" layer and 8" layer simultaneously as follows: Starting with ivory fondant, hand roll into a sausage shape. Then, using a rolling pin, flatten the sausage lengthwise until thin enough to fit into the pasta machine on #1 setting with no resistance. Sprinkle the fondant lightly with powder sugar before sending it through the machine. Roll the fondant through the machine starting on # 1 setting and continuing to # 2, #3 and ending with #4. ( You will have a very long strip of fondant at this point). Set the Wilton ribbon cutter to 1/2" width and cut the ivory fondant into a straight strip. Use the design stitching tool to add edging at the top. Brush water on the 6" cake where the fondant will be placed. Roll up the fondant ribbon into a coil and unravel it onto the side of the cake, straightening as necessary. Cut ends with a craft knife. Repeat on 8" layer. Continue with the remaining colors except for olivegreen. ( ribbon widths are as follows: blue - 1/2", bright green- 1 1/2",peach- 1", pink- 1/2").

Step 3: Finish

Add the olive green fondant ribbon per above instructions, but choose the width depending on how much space remains on cake. Add the molded bride and groom, adhering with some melted coating
